Another Beauty block and some fun, free pattern and tutorial!

Last night I did another block for the New York Beauty quilt:
I love using black and white...it's so graphic and dramatic. This quilt has a pieced border so just finishing the blocks won't be all I need to do for it. I have another 5 blocks to do out of 36. So I'm looking at some quilts people have done with alphabets last night and went on a search for free patterns. I found this website with a very easy pieced alphabet. You can find tons of free patterns on their website HERE. I especially like this alphabet quilt though:

I'd like to do a quilt with a Bible verse or a saying on it. I've seen some antique quilts that have poems and they are very beautiful. This one has letters too big to do a poem or verse but I like the way it looks. The website has 2 examples of quilts made from this free pattern. Then, as you know if you've read my blog, I have been looking for a way to baste a quilt without getting on the floor. I think I may have found it from Color Me Quilty blog. I think this is genius!
It involves using two boards and a dining room table! You can see it HERE. I don't know how much boards cost, but this weekend I'm going to call around. They can't be that much and I know that places like Lowe's will cut wood to your specifications. Well, I have to get to work. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! XO and Cheery Wave from Bev

Thanks for sharing my basting tutorial. The one you have is for pin basting, I also have one for spray basting. I've basted quite a few quilts this way and it's worked great. I hope it works well for you too. And the boards aren't real expensive, I just leave them standing in the corner of my sewing room when not in use! Good luck!

Always love reading your posts. Thanks for sharing another beautiful block and the link for a better way to baste. Anything is better than crawling around on the floor!
