Magic Binding Tutorial

Hi all! Charlie is going through another crisis with his heart. I've been spending time at the doggie intensive care unit and the vet told me that it won't be long now for him. But it isn't yet at the point of putting him down. I'm a wreck to say the least. On a happy note, today I'm sharing the coolest technique for machine binding a quilt that I've ever seen! I've quilted a long time and haven't ever seen this before. I contacted Marti of 52 Quilts and she told me I could use her photos and tell you all about this easy and fast way to bind a quilt on the machine AND have a little piping accent!
I tell ya, the best part of this technique is that it is all done by machine! I will be doing this for my next binding for sure. I thought it looked hard until I saw her great photos (which she gave me permission to use) and read the easy instructions:
Even the corners look easy to do:

Here's a pic of the finished binding on the quilt:
And here's another finished quilt with this binding method:

You can find this amazing tutorial on her blog HERE. She tells me that she's currently working on a video tutorial! I can't wait to see it. I know you're going to go take a look but I wish you'd let me know what you think. Have any of you guys used this method before? Our fabric sale is still going on. Charlie's bills are high and I still haven't found a job. I'm thinking that places that will hire an old, fat grandma are kind of few and far between. Have a great day. Love you all! XO and cheery wave from Bev

Greetings from another fat old grandma, Bev. I'm so sorry about Charlie; it's the hardest part of being a pet owner. But there's a lot of joy involved too, and I hope you can concentrate on that as you face what's to come.

I haven't tried this yet but after reading your suggestions I will check it out. I am praying for you and your doggies. It is so hard watching them be so sick. I still miss my lovely she was with me for 16 glorious years. We went through similar talk to Charlie instead of the Vet. He will let you know. I am a fat Grandma too I hope God send you some blessings!

so sorry Charlie is so poorly, he seems to have a strong constitution as you have had a few scares with him. This looks interesting will check out the link, must admit I enjoy the hand sewing with the binding.
