Well, here it is! As you know if you read my blog, I'm a big fan of Esther Aliu, who designed a pattern of a 1790 quilt from a black and white photo in a book published in 1958. She has given away the pattern in a free BOM on her blog. The entire process of design and publication has taken her at least 5 years. There are over 4500 people who are participating in downloading the pattern and making this quilt BUT no-one had actually finished one UNTIL now! Here it is! The first finished Love Entwined:
That's Esther on the left and the quilter, Narelle Birchall on the right. I can't even tell you how impressed I am! I've started one and have just that center round compass block done...lol. This quilt is SO HARD! The applique pieces are tiny, tiny, tiny. I originally started this to have something to work on while I watch tv at night...you know, a hand applique piece. But what I'm finding is that most of the work is preparation. At any rate, I just wanted to share. I think that, if you're a quilter, you can't help but be impressed. You can see closeup photos of the quilt and read about the amazing journey of designing it on Esther's blog HERE. Hope your Tuesday is inspired and that you have time to sew! XO and Cheery Wave from Bev!
