English Paper Piecing...Yuck

Happy Sunday to you! Yesterday I spent an inordinate amount of time paper piecing this little 8" block from Gossip in the Garden.
I know that there are people who love English paper piecing but I am NOT one of them! This little star took FOR.EV.ER! I'd rather do 20 set in seams and sew it on the machine than do all that hand stitching. I do have to say though that the yellow fabric in this block is from the 70's! Back then, cotton fabric was hard to find and it was only 36" wide from selvage to selvage. Some of it was only 32" wide. Look how well it goes with Pam Kitty Morning blue fabric. In fact, I'm so old that I remember when fabric was 19 and 1/2 CENTS a yard. That 1/2 cent made you buy 2 yards (which no-one minded too much)! Sorry.... got sidetracked with fabric love comments. At least, Ricky Tims has a product that lets you keep the paper inside. It's called Stable Stuff Poly and when it gets wet, it becomes soft and unnoticeable.

It is all I would use if I English paper pieced very often. For those of you who wrote me after my last post, you can find it HERE. I originally got it to use for machine embroidery. I hate ripping off stabilizer after machine quilting. I also am going to try it for string pieced paper piecing. Hope you're having a great Sunday! XO and cheery wave from Bev

Heh, I know what you mean. I am trying my hand at hexagons and may not repeat the experience. I am combining 150 of them to make a FQ size doll blanket for my niece. I am glad I did not make the mistake of trying to make something larger.

Oh you are great at paper piecing! Yes I remember fabric being 32-36 inches wide! How nice to have some in your stash!

I don't think I would like EPP either.
