Rattlesnake! and an Ancient Mystery Solved!

It's Friday! I am trying to clear the deck for a weekend of finishing quilt tops. I want to finish the Farmer's Wife, the Great Granny Along top and the Prairie Rose applique top. That's pretty ambitious for me. Last night, I was looking for the fabric for the Prairie Rose top and I found yet another unquilted top.
This angle is the only way I could get it all in the photo. This is from a Karen Stone paper pieced pattern called Rattlesnake. I used bright fabrics with no control at all. Today, I would probably not have used all these fabrics together.
If you look closely, you can tell that I coordinated fabric within the block. The only criteria I had for the entire quilt was using bright fabric. I still like it though. I guess it will go on the "to be quilted" pile. If I had the money, Karen Walker would have a ton of quilting  to do! Oh, by the way, I put Karen's button on the sidebar of the blog. If you need machine quilting done, you should go look at her work. She's so careful and good about squaring things up and her work is beautiful.

Oh, take a look at this:
This is a mysterious rock with carving that none of the scientists who are studying it can decipher. Well, all they have to do as ask a quilter. These are obviously ancient quilt designs. There is the hexagon, pyramid, a star and some quilting patterns. Can't you see it? What else could it possibly be? Mystery solved. You're welcome famous scientists!

Have a great Friday! Hope you can find some time to sew! Cheery wave from Bev
