I FINALLY have enough blocks to make a quilt...I think. I feel guilty because I should really make more. Here's what I have finished.
I originally set out to make a duplicate of this quilt that I no longer own. I sold it because the "really MEAN quilt judge" as I call her, trashed this quilt so badly. The one nice thing she said about this quilt was that it had a lot of fabrics. I wish I hadn't sold it. The fact that a lady paid a lot of money for it didn't make my bruised ego any better. Today I put my work on this blog for anyone to see because quilting gives me joy and I'm SO OVER critical, mean-spirited people.
I LOVE seeing the beautiful work that other people display on their blogs. Their quilts, their projects, their creativity. It lifts my spirit and I feel a kinship with people who are sharing the experience of expressing their creative joy (well, not counting when they are ripping out stitches--they don't express much joy while they're doing that). So while writing this post, I decided to finish the quilt. I hope the "really MEAN quilt judge", where ever she may be, has learned to be a little kinder. Have a happy Thursday! Good for you.... Yes finish it and for what it's worth I like the quilt and love looking at your work! Cathy (usually a lurker)
Booo for mean people!! Congrats on a beautiful finish
I love the Quilt, it's beautiful.
Your blocks are wonderful!! This is going to make a gorgeous quilt!!
P
That is a gorgeous quilt!
Oh my gosh!!! These are just gorgeous! How very talented you are!!
Eye popping CANDY!! Screw the mean judge!! I know harsh...but seriously who cares as long as you were happy with it!
I don't like mean Judges. It is very colorful. You could make a MINI with those 16. She could have said something NICE. I had a judge once that only complimented my Binding. Must have hated my Quilt, but at least that was positive!
I LOVE these quilt blocks. Stunning!!
that quilt is beautiful!
Mean people suck!
Love the updates on your blog!
they inspire me to be creative :)
Love, love, love your blocks. You'll come up with a terrific design to set them off and will have a knockout!
That quilt was stunning! I only dream about being able to make a quilt like that!
( And even if it would've been one that was "not so great", if YOU liked it or the person you were making it for liked it, then THAT'S what counts! )
Like Mary said( above) , find something to be positive about if you are critiquing somebody's creation.

I love your old quilt and your new blocks...although I would make some more because I think they would make an awesome quilt :)
WOW, these blocks are beautiful (and how very dare anyone say otherwise!!)
I aspire to one day making a quilt as gorgeous as this one.
Wishing you a happy weekend,
xx
This is going to sound funny but I liked the block set up in the first picture. I know it's not the intended set up but I liked it just the same! I love all the color in your quilt. Forget about the judge. If you love your quilt that's all that matters.
I think this quilt is gorgeous and I can't imagine what negative things the judge said about it, nor do I want to. The important thing to remember is that what one judge may find hideous may make another judge's heart sing. Never put too much thought into it. You created a quilt that you loved! Shame you sold it, but there is also a reason for that, whether the reason be known right now or not. If nothing else, it will bring joy to someone else's life for a very long time. And there's nothing negative about that!
Those blocks are to die for. I love the colors!
