Who ARE These People??

Okay, forgive me for deviating from talk of sewing and quilting. I have just been cruising Pinterest and it made me wonder...who are the people who have white couches in their home? Now, don't get me wrong...I love the look of a white couch!

BUT, I have to ask...how the heck to they keep their couches white? Do they live alone?

Do they have no family? No pets? No visitors? It snowed here yesterday and Charlie and Lola both came in from outside covered with snow! I don't know how they do it because they are only outside for 5 minutes or so. Lola stood right by the couch and shook while I was toweling snow off of Charlie. When I got to her, Charlie...still wet...jumped on the couch. Sigh...
Obviously some of the couches have white slipcovers. So how often do they need to be washed? My washing machine hates it when I wash quilts...I can't imagine washing all those slipcovers. I can imagine all of the colorful pillows that you could make and put on the couch...changing them with the seasons!
Is it just me? Or do other people wonder about things like this? Anybody out there have a white couch? How do you do it? Well, I've goofed around this morning and need to get something constructive done. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! XO and cheery wave from Bev

I have always wondered about white couches too! They cannot be practical at all especially at a beach house where they are always shown in magazines. I have an olive green and a brown leather couch specifically because we actually use them. Enjoy your day!

I always wondered about that too! Paw just bought a love seat and arm chair in bisque, which is pretty close to white.. Anyway, they are leather and easy to wipe down with a damp cloth. I love the way they brighten a room too!

Bev I am one of those with 2 cream couches, have had them 11 years but rarely go into the lounge, sat in there Xmas day the one and only time this year and if the girls or cat come to stay and they use the room just put a throw over, mind you if i did use them they would not look like they look they still look like new. Certainly not the colour if you have kids about etc, at the moment my elder daughter is fast asleep on one of them as they stayed the night Christmas lunch for us today

I had a white couch for years. And like the couches you've shown it was easy to care for due to the easy on and off of the slip covers. My dogs were not allowed on the furniture unless invited,so that was never an issue. My children knew not to eat on the sofa. I gave the sofa to my oldest son when he moved out into a bachelor pad with 2 other young men. The couch survived them also! So maybe there's something about the white that most people respect and understand. I'd love to have another one because this creamy colored couch we have now is constantly getting stained and isn't so easily cleaned.

I love it --- this post cracks me up because in looking for holiday decorating ideas I too had the same thought. I have a microfiber grey sofa and it's hard enough to keep clean I couldn't imagine having a functional white sofa.

I love seeing everyone's white couches, but yes, probably not practical for people. Well, my people. I bought myself a white slipcovered chair and of all things it's my use of hand lotion that messes them up. I need those arm covers.. maybe I should make some!

I'm renovating my old farmhouse, and we'll be putting white slip-covered furniture in. I'll be ordering a second set of white slip covers for it--one to wash, one to wear. But mine at least are 100% cotton, machine wash and dry, bleach friendly.

I've spent the last year breaking people and animals from furniture or food on furniture.

I do imagine I'll have thrown quilts scattered, especially on the backs of sofas where our long haired kitties like to.nap in windows.

I've waited my whole adult life to have the living room I'm about to have.

To say I'm giddy would be an understatement. :-)
