Sewing Again and Some Sad News - We Lost a K9 Officer

Finally, I got some time to do a little sewing! Wow, it has been a stretch! I cut some blocks and actually sewed this one together!
Yes, I'm making yet another Farmer's Wife quilt! I have cut strip sets for this quilt until I'm blue in the face so sort of had to use them to make another quilt. There are still strip sets left and you can see them HERE.
Charlie gave me a fright yesterday. He suddenly jumped off the bed and started rolling around like he was in a lot of pain. I got up and rushed to pull on some clothes to take him to our vet (which is open 24/7) and when I ran back in to pick him up, he had gone outside (we have a doggie door). I just knew I was going to find him out there dead. It was dark so I took a flash light and finally found him under a bush with a little rabbit he had cornered. I brought him back in the house (bunny was fine) and checked his gums and they were nice and pink. I didn't take him to the vet because he acted like he was fine and, honestly, I was afraid they might suggest putting him down. He's acted like he feels fine ever since. I know the inevitable is coming but looks like not yet. We had some sad news here in Oklahoma City:
We lost a brave K9 officer. R.I.P. Kye! Kye's handler stopped a man in a high speed chase and the man jumped out of his car and ran. Kye apprehended the man and, by the time Kye's handler reached the scene, he found Kye being stabbed in the head. Kye's handler shot the perpetrator and killed him. We are supporting the officer who was Kye's partner and requesting that he not be held responsible for shooting the suspect (who, by the way, had a long criminal record). Kye's handler has been suspended but has overwhelming support from the community. Kye's funeral is today.
Love you all! XOXO Bev

Awe poor Charlie. My dads dog "Pete" started having convulsions a few months before he died, maybe Charlie is to that point. It was hard to watch but like charlie he would act like nothing ever happened.

I hope the officer's suspension is lifted asap. Kye was an officer no different than any other member of the department. Let's trust that the system uses it's collective head and not discipline Kye's partner any longer. R.I.P. Kye.

Our canine friends give SO much for us...so sad about the police dog - here's hoping they clear his handler! SO glad your little guy is hanging in there, too - give him an extra squeeze or two today. XOXOXOXO

Hoping Charlie will be around a lot longer. We had Lizzy, a cairn, who brought me a gutted rabbit while I was recovering from surgery! It's nice to see some police support. My hubs is a retired LAPD detective, and I see so much anti-police. Hope Kye's handler will be back to work, soon.

so sad to read about the police dog who was doing what he was trained for. The poor officer must be very upset both at the loss of his dog and the shooting of the offender.
Good to read that Charlie has come though his latest set back. Sorry I am late blogging but been doing a quilt show and not been able to check back on blogs since wednesday night, now have loads and loads to catch up on!
