Sad News and a New Book

Hello! Gee, it seems like forever since I blogged. That's because I've been trying to get caught up on work at the pesky "real job" and because I had company all last weekend so no sewing. Jason (my Dallas boy) is coming up for the long weekend so I don't know how much sewing I'll get done. First, let me show you the new book that Lynn Wilder from Sew 'n Wild Oaks wrote. It's called "Patchwork Math Using Quilting Design Components" and it is FABULOUS!
First, it's spiral bound! I love that because there are so many times that I want to use a book as a reference and it's a P.A.I.N. to not be able to lay it down flat. This book has all the measurements and directions for the components of a quilt block. If you know me at all, you know that I'm a serial block maker. You can use this book to make a bunch of block components at one time and then fit them together and make blocks. FUN! Here are some components that Lynn made:

Put them together and you get this block:
I can't wait to sit down and cut and sew a bunch of the components and see how they look together! I'll show you as I go. Now for the sad, sad, sad news. Lynn's adorable dog, Zinnie, died on Wednesday and Lynn, of course, is heart broken. There is nothing worse than losing a child or a dog (or cat). It's horrible. Zinnie was only 5 years old.
She was a beautiful, sweet dog and Lynn's readers loved reading about her tricks and adventures. So, if you would like to know more about the book, see the components on Lynn's blog or to buy one for yourself, or if you would like to give Lynn your condolences, you can do so HERE.

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend and go hug your pet! XO from Bev

Hi Bev - So sorry to hear about Lynn's precious dog! It's so hard to give them up. I know she will be missed.

Haven't talked to you in a while. Things have just been crazy here. Twins had the flu and then Britt and Laynee got it. I felt terrible because I couldn't help out but I couldn't risk bringing germs home to John.

So, hopefully, things will ease up. Talk to you soon.

I count my blessings everyday for the unconditional love from my "fur children".
It's always heartbreaking when they pass over the Rainbow Bridge. :-(

Just a note about your books. I take all of my books to Office Max and for less than $2 each I get them spiral bound. It is awesome. If they are small, I will bundle two or three similar books together and have them bound as one.
