I'm looking at my Shih Tzu clock with the wagging tail (courtesy of an AA battery) and it says 9:10 am. My computer screen tells me it is 10:10 am. Oh rats--the time has changed! Well, yesterday I had great intentions and started cleaning but, as usual, got distracted. I did another block on the El's Kitchen Quilt. It's Broken Dishes:
I love this block and I think a quilt made with just this block would be beautiful. So last night I'm thinking about my grandchildren and realized that 3 of them will be graduating from high school this year! Austin, Gina's son and Zoe and Emily, Eric's daughters. Emily would have graduated two years ago but, when she was 4, she started having seizures. The pediatrician here in Oklahoma City diagnosed her and they started her on medication that was having no results. God knew just what He was doing though. Her dad, Eric (my son), was doing a medical school rotation with a neurosurgeon at the time and he did not think the diagnosis was correct. They took her to M.D. Anderson in Houston and they found lesions on her brain. She had brain surgery and was some better although the recovery was long. Then her seizures got worse and she had to go back for brain surgery a second time. She lost some movement in her left hand and some eyesight in one eye and missed almost 3 years of school.
She has been seizure free and symptom free for many years now and I am filled with gratitude and thank God for her recovery.So why do I mention this, you ask? Because I decided to make a quilt for each of them and now I only have 3 months to do it! Let's face it, I need deadlines. I am naturally lazy (and good-natured) so having little time will be great for me. I love this photo of Emily but she doesn't like it because she has no makeup on. I think she is beautiful without makeup but then I'm prejudiced-lol. Well, hope you have a happy Sunday! I'm off to look for quilt patterns! Fun! XO and cheery wave from Bev

Wow, the brain is such an amazing thing. So happy your granddaughter is doing so well, she is quite the beauty. My son suffered a Traumatic Brain injury as a result of a car accident, 4 years ago. He lost a year of college but had a miraculous recovery and is now in grad school. Graduation is extra special for those who have had to fight so hard to recover!!!

lazy I don1t think so, well at least not when it comes to quilting. Si good to read that after the ops Emily is free from her seizures and well. I agree she does not need makeup. My ex husband suffered from epilepsy, not under control and had some bad times and my older daughter has seizures sometimes due, to an arachnidnoid cyst on her brain which the hospital are not keen to do anything about

Wow! If I had skin like that without make up I would never need to wear anything except sunblock! Her eyes are gorgeous, too! Maybe I should send her a picture of me in third grade showing I already had serious dark circles under my eyes even as a third grader. Sheesh. I am so glad for her wonderful recovery. What an awesome story to read today. God is all around us and so very interested in all the details of our lives. Thank you for the inspiration. I'm late in reading this so I hope you even will read this.
