Civil War Bride...Oklahoma style

It's Friday! Last night I finished "prep" of the applique pieces for the Civil War Bride quilt Block One. Now I have a hand project. We will see how long it will take to go from this:
to something that looks like this:
This is the picture of the finished block from the pattern book. I'm still going to have to prepare the background for my block and get the pieces glued on. Thank goodness for fusible, water soluable products for basting!  When I get the pieces glued down, I'll have a hand sewing project to work on in the evenings or in the car when traveling. Is anyone out there doing this quilt? I would love to get a group together. Several of my blogger friends have said they plan to start one but I don't know anyone who actually has started. I'm looking for people who are actually working on one of these quilts. The finished quilt is just breathtaking and if you didn't see it earlier on my blog, here it is:
Block one is in the upper left corner. I'm trying to use my older fabric and am not making this in the bright colors I've been using for the last couple of years. I still love the older fabrics...awww...who am I kidding. I love all the fabrics. So let me know if you are working on this and maybe we can get a flickr group going or something. Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and hope you get a chance to sew. Cheery wave! Bev

Did you turn under the applique pieces or doing a raw edge applique? If raw edge, how are you hand appliqueing them? Looks beautiful!
