This morning I put a roast in the crock pot and thought maybe someone would like the recipe. I've made this roast for years and years and everyone just loves it! You may all know the recipe but, in the event someone doesn't, I thought I'd share. I didn't take photos because I have a cheap little camera and almost no light in my kitchen in the morning. First, let me extoll the virtues of the crock pot liner bag. I have used my crock pot so much more since I discovered these! Just stick in the bag and after you are all finished, pull it out and throw it away! You don't have to do any more than wipe out your crock pot and put it away. I use them for beans and soup and just everything. So here is the recipe:
Crock Pot Roast
1 chuck roast (they are cheap and flavorful)
1 envelope of powered Lipton French Onion Soup mix
2 cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup
Potatoes and Carrots if desired
That's it. Just put the roast in the crock pot. Sprinkle with soup mix. Empty the cans of mushroom soup into the pot (you don't add any water), put the lid on and that's it. If you want to add potatoes or carrots, do that about 1 hour before the roast is finished. This makes its own, delicious gravy. You don't have to do anything but take out the roast, pour the gravy into a bowl and whisk it a little to make it smooth. Seriously, this makes the easiest roast ever.
Today is my copywriting deadline day so I have to get to work. Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday and find some time to sew. Cheery wave! Bev

Our stomachs must be on similar wavelengths. I tossed stew makings in the crockpot this morning. In addition to the onion soup mix and cream of mushroom, I add Liquid Smoke, worcestershire sauce, garlic, pepper, and red wine. And it is really starting to smell good....
I do so love the colours of your great granny block, and the mere thought of that roast is making me hungry! Time to start dinner here, methinks :-)
Have a good day, happy sewing
xx
This is one of my families most favorite meals. I can smell it now, yum!
Another pretty block! I can smell roast too~ we must be on the same wavelength because I bought one today to put in the pot tomorrow. :-) Have a happy day!
I use that basic recipe for the oven, too! ( I sort of slow cook it in my toaster oven, covered, so it stays moist. )I love the gravy it makes!!
Great block and I know all too well what a yummy meal! YUM!!!!
