A Mix and I Don't Like Either One...sigh...

Friday! Woot! Lola got a clean bill of health at the vet yesterday. She is still too "big boned" but she's 12 so I don't see that changing.

I still didn't get a chance to sew but I did get some blocks cut and ready to sew. I also laid out both sets of Farmer's Wife blocks together. Since I decided I don't particularly like either one of them, I think I will just combine them and do a 48 block quilt.
I only need one more block to have 48 blocks for this setting and 2 blocks more for a diagonal setting. I'm putting them together this weekend. It's funny how I thought they were such differnt sets but they go together because I keep picking the same colors over and over. These little blocks are so much fun to make.

But before I start another FW quilt, I'm going to finish the Great Granny quilt and the Summer Celebration quilt. I have 2 more blocks for the Great Granny and 5 more for Summer Celebration. Maybe that will help me break the habit of starting more projects before I finish others. I know you are all sick of seeing these blocks over and over but I really love putting them on the blog and getting advice from far better quilters than I. What do you think? Diagonal or straight set? I've already decided on white sashing with red cornerstones and, if I do diagonal, aqua setting triangles. Hummmm......

Well, have a great Friday! I hope you find some time to sew! Cheery wave! Bev

I think straight set for the quilt. Love the white with red cornerstones. If you use the turquoise with the diagonal setting, it might get a bit too busy. But, really, it's hard to tell when I'm just seeing it on the blog. In person, It's probably a whole different thing. It is a beautiful quilt and I'm sure you will enjoy whatever setting you decide on.

I think they look great! I'm the type of person who can really only do one quilt at a time because I get so impatient to finish it!

They do go together. On point is how the original is so I'd follow that route. The White sashing with Turquoise is what sounds good to me. There's already a lot of RED in it.

Hi Bev I don't know why but my inner instinct says on point it will give the blocks a different look and make te quilt more pleasing to you.
Also I don't mind seeing the same blocks as , as quilters we do sometimes look at the same blocks over & over again until they have "nagged " us to be finished with them.

I wold be interested in seeing the quilt as you put it together and finish it.
Do you quilt your own quilts ?

I'd be tempted not to use sashing at all. I rather like them as you've laid them out. But then I tend to like a mish-mash top.
