We do actually have squirrel babies. I haven't seen the babies yet but Momma comes very close to me to feed (I buy her raw peanuts) and I can see she's nursing. This picture actually came from an article about Compassionate Mama Squirrels who adopt the squirrel babies whose mamas have been killed. You can read the article from Care2.com here:

Oh, how neat that you have babies! We had some this spring, too! Momma had them in an old birdhouse whose hole she had enlarged. When the babies got so big that they were in cramped quarters, I watched her take the babies, one by one, out of the birdhouse, across the backyard, and up a maple tree to an existing squirrel nest. It was an all day affair (at least 3, maybe 4 babies, and she would rest in between treks). I hope you get to see your babies soon!... Donna
Oh my goodness. That is so sweet! I have woods behind my house and lots of squirrels in the tress that sometimes run across my balcony. I was just saying to my husband the other day that we've never seen any baby or even adolescent squirrels. Well now I have. Just amazed at how you even got this great picture. I am also an amateur photographer occasionally. Thanks so much for sharing this pic!

What a sweet picture! Hopefully Mama brings the wee ones around for a snack when you're feeding them - wouldn't that be adorable?! Then you'll have a whole FAMILY of squirrels crashing your door for their peanuts! :) Those little critters crack me up, I love to watch them, they are so comical! Surprisingly, out here on the farm we don't see many squirrels - but it you travel into town, you see them scampering everywhere. Go figure.
