MAKING PILLOW COVERS FOR THE SHOP

I'm stealing time from my "real job" today to make some pillow covers for the shop. Gina and I use the fluffy feather inserts so that Gina can bend them to her will. This is an 18" x 18" one I made from French General's Rural Jardin line and just love using that fabric because it all goes together so well. Just thought I'd share-Gina has the inserts so I'll try to get a pic of the finished pillows in the shop. I've been using clothesline from the Dollar Store for the piping because a giant package of it is $1.99 for the whole thing! Gina covered a settee (I was so impressed) with some of the gray and white stripe twill from this line and the pillows are to go on that. You can see some of the French General fabrics in the 44th Street Fabric Etsy shop--what's left anyway. Their new line is coming out in the fall. It's reds and rich browns!

FRENCH GENERAL RURAL JARDIN IS IN THE SHOP!

Rural Jardin is in stock at 44th Street Fabric! Rural Jardin fabric by French General for Moda is the second line of fabric by this popular designer. French General fabric designs are based on or reproductions of antique french textiles collected and sold by French General. The original antique fabrics were so expensive that the decision was made to reproduce them so that we can have the look of expensive French Country antique textiles. The line is lovely reds and blues....perfect!

ROUENNERIES FABRIC BY FRENCH GENERAL FOR MODA IS IN THE SHOP!

Rouenneries fabric is in the 44th Street Fabric shop! I took pictures after the fabric actually arrived so you can sort of see the fabulous colors! They just don't translate very well because they are so rich and gorgeous!
We have the charm squares (5" x 5") so you can see all the fabric and play with it! I use one charm square pack to make a dog bed for Charlie and Lola and use two charm square packs to make a baby quilt. I just sew them together randomly and add a 1" border and then a 4" border. It's a perfect size for a baby quilt!
These fabrics all coordinate with each other beautifully! See our previous post for background on French General who designed this chic antique French reproduction fabric!

ROUENNERIES BY FRENCH GENERAL

Rouenneries fabric by French General is in the 44th Street Fabric shop as of November 2!! We have decided to preview the new fabrics that are coming to the shop so that you can see! So each week we will show you 3 or 4 fabrics from the lines we have purchased!
Rouenneries is the first of the lines from French General (the same one Martha Stewart loves). This designer has been making very expensive reproduction fabric from antique French fabrics. Moda commissioned the first line of fabric from this great designer that we can all actually afford to buy. I first saw this fabric made up into little girls' dresses by a New York designer and they were to die for. As you can see from the quilt photo above, this fabric is also wonderful for home dec use. The red and oyster colors are sophisticated and look very high end.
I can't wait to see photos of items my customers decide to make with Rouenneries! If you will send them to me, we will feature them on our Flicker! Take care!
