A Tulip Quilt In Progress...

I stubbornly cling to the belief that this winter is going to end and that spring is going to burst forth in all its glory! This little tulip quilt is a bright, happy reminder of that even though it's dark, gray and going to snow.

Here are the first 3 rows. See those colored squares between the tulip blocks? There are 190 of them in this quilt! Youzer! I just finished cutting them! Thanks to everyone who has written to encourage me through this tough time in my life. I really appreciate you! I was feeling pretty good this morning and then my daughter called and said her dog, Daisy, had died today. Daisy was a beloved family dog that Gina has had since she was a tiny puppy. She was 14 which is old for a big dog. Here is a photo of her 7 years ago when Austin was in junior high. He's in college now.

Here's a photo of Daisy this last Christmas. Wasn't she sweet? She was a good sport:

We knew that she was old and not going to be around much longer but it still hurts. I hope she and Charlie are playing together somewhere. Charlie loved Daisy. We all did. I thought about not blogging about Daisy but this is my life right now. I know followers are dropping away from the "negative old lady" blog. Thanks to those who are staying.Thank you--love you all! XO from Bev

I don't think you are being a negative old lady... it is just a rough patch you're going through and totally understandable that you are down in the dumps. They are waaaaay more than simple pets... they are furry little angels that make our lives better. Take care... keep sewing... I know it puts me in a better mood. Hugs!

Sorry you are having a rough time. If this crazy Oklahoma weather ever improves, I'll drive over and we'll do lunch, OK?

Sorry about Daisy.

I think a blog should be whatever it is 'you' need it for. I love that you feel free to share, both ups and downs.
We've had 3 loooong-time pets and I know how hard it is to loose them - they become part of the family. So thank you for sharing - our heart goes out to you!
Just LOVE the bright colors in your tulip quilt. Spring-time promise!

I love your tulips. You work in such happy colors. So sad to hear about Daisy. It's so hard to say goodbye to our furry friends. Know that you are not alone as you have all your bloggy friends with you. We may not always comment but we are reading and feeling your pain. May your days be happier and the skies sunnier.

Hang in there Bev. This is just life. Negative would be moaning about the fairness of it all. We love you and your tulips are truly beautiful. Spring will come.

What a lovely quilt! I am sorry for their loss! I have two dogs over 14 and feel for others whose beloved pets. There life span is shorter than ours and there is nothing we can do. Part of owning animals and something I wish new pet owners looked into instead of buying on a whim. Glad mine have been with us this long.

To me a blog is a journal of your life. The ups and the downs. We are here to share in all of it. It has been a hard time for you but you have not closed the door to the world. You are sewing, blogging and doing IG. I think you are doing great and I will not be going anywhere. Hugs
