One Last Post About the Home Invasion....

Thanks to all of you who have written emails to me and have commented on my "home invasion" posts. I am grateful to have not been hurt and I am much more cautious. I am remembering to set the alarm, to take my phone with me and to use the security bar. And, as my blog buddy, Lea Anne, says, it would be interesting to know what stories the 4 Hispanic guys are telling about the loco white woman who chased them around, yelling. That's why I'm writing one more post actually. I've had several people ask what kind of bar the police recommended. Here's a photo:

It is a Master Lock Dual-Function Security Bar. It's dual function because you can use it with a patio door too. You can find them at Amazon HERE. I got mine at Home Depot because I was there to pick out the paint for my red front door and they had them. The price was about the same but, at Amazon, you have to add shipping. The police said that it takes a battering ram to get the door open with one of these.

We all have to take care. The people coming up from the border aren't worried about committing robbery in daylight because, if they get arrested, the Federal Government has directed the local law enforcement to release them. According to reports in the Associated Press, federal documents state that over 5000 have been released in just the last few weeks. If you want, you can read about it HERE. It doesn't matter if they are convicted felons who have committed murders, robberies, etc. I know that there is some "unspoken rule" about avoiding unpleasant truths on Blogger. But it doesn't take much research to see that things have changed in our country. I never thought about something happening to me. I live in a nice neighborhood. A garage sale was going on 3 doors down from my house and lots of people were parked there. I tell ya, never in a million years.....

So stay safe. Take care. Be watchful. XOXO and cheery wave from Bev

What a cool device - I WILL be looking for that here. Thanks for the link to the article - 5,000 in the past few weeks is unbelieveable! We ALL need to open our eyes - "political correctness" be damned! Again, SO glad you're safe - thanks for the tip on the door blocker!

Thank you so much for posting info about the security bar. I have to go to Home Depot today to get a few things and will get one of these if they have them in stock.

I just checked Home Depot's website and the Master Lock Security Bar is only $17.98, less expensive than Amazon.

Have used these bars for several years. Stop the creeps anyway we can.

We ordered a new heavier security screen door from HOME Depot and they had a carpenter who installed it. Worth the peace of mind to open the door when someone rings the bell and have the security door there as a barrier. Harbor Freight has a small solar panel activated porch light that comes on at night, but if someone crosses the light sensor it goes very bright. Think it was $29. Even with the whole house monitored alarm service there are perps who want something for nothing!! Don't make it easy for them!

Thanks Bev! I just ordered one.

Good Heavens! You have been lucky!
Sadly economical reasons are often behind (illegal) immigration resulting (sometime) in such crimes.
The policemen were correct: (like everywhere in the world) no particular neighbourhood is targeted, an easy prey can be found anywhere (even on our tiny island). Your security bar is only as good as you remember to place it though.
P.S. You reacted just as I would (to the consternation of my husband, I often act before I think...Then again, it is MY home...
All the best,

It's so sad that a person in this country needs take these measures to feel safe. Good thing you didn't hurt one of them, you'd be in jail and they'd be robbing your neighbor. You're a brave woman in more ways than one.

Thanks for sharing your story! I've been dragging my feet on installing an alarm and too often leave my door unlocked during the day...because I too live in a "nice and safe neighborhood". All of that is changing immediately!

That looks a good door stopper, what does concern me is if there is a fire but I supposed the fire brigade would come though a window. In the last 2 weeks I have read about 3 bloggers in the US that have had unwanted visitors, very frightening. You are now very safe and sound and I think I mentioned before lightening does not strike twice

I just read about your home invasion. Wow. What a thing to have happen. And to think you now have to buy a gun to keep yourself safe in your own home.

I am going to get one payday! So glad you are alright! I do like the new door but not a way to get one! I hate the bad guys and now it is harder to figure out the good from the bad! Take care of yourself and the puppies!

Bev, I am so glad that you are okay.
Thank you for the security bar tip.
Obama & others (including RINOs) in the government keeping (yes, they have been doing it intentionally) the border open is ludicrous.
When people do immoral/evil things, I am ever so slightly comforted by the knowledge that they will someday have to stand before the Lord and face consequences.
