A Fun Tutorial and Charlie's Brush with the Beyond!

No sewing done so here's something fun from Camille Roskelley. She is so adorable and this is a cute, short video that I pinned:

Haven't been doing much sewing because I've been nursing a/k/a watching Mr. Charlie like a hawk...he spent from Sunday morning at 5 AM to Monday morning at the emergency vet (who is my regular vet anyway) in intensive care. A year ago July, they told me to take him home and enjoy him because his heart was so bad. He's 17 now. Well, it's been over a year and he did great until Sunday morning when he suddenly woke up from sleeping and couldn't breathe. I rushed him in and really thought I was going to lose him. They did some very expensive tests and put him in the oxygen cage. After the cardiologist (my vet is very upscale and state of the art) evaluated him I learned that one of his heart valves was almost not working at all. They gave him some new medication that just got out of trials. It is only approved for animals as of now and won't get to humans for 8-10 years. Wow, within about 2 hours, he was up and around and back to almost his old self!
So he's back at home with me and I really appreciate every minute. I wish I had a good photo of his sweet face. I'll be working on that. He's also got to stay on this new medication for life and it's about $400 a month. I have no idea how I'm going to afford it but I will figure out a way. Charlie is worth it! Hope you are all doing okay. I know several blogger buddies are having health issues and several whose husbands are having issues. Let's all pray for each other and send love through the air to each other! XO and grateful wave from Bev

tried to leave a comment before but no luck, come back this morning and the comment box opens!
Sounds like one amazing drug to have revitalised your little dog so well. Trust he keeps in top form on it but wow it is rather costly, beans on toast for you I think!!.

Hello Bev
I don't normally comment, just enjoy your blog. But I needed to tell you that I'm praying for Charlie and that you will find the money to afford the medication. He's so beautiful and I have a real heart for animals. God bless you.
Kind regards
Mandy Currie from England

Love your blog. I just happened upon it and noticed your Charlie. Wow he has lived a long life. That is such hopeful news about the new meds out and I hope they keep working for him. I am also owned by Two Shih Tzus.

Charlie is a lucky little man...he is very well loved.
Vet daughter lost her male Cavalier to cardiomyopathy just over 2 years ago. She got great advice & care for him while in Vet School. Middle daughter had his son, but also lost him a year ago in September & still mourns his loss. The adorable sister, who was Vet Daughters study buddy nearly all through college is the survivor, but is also in early stage cardiomyopathy now, at only 9 years old...just not fair...

Prayers for Charlie. We have a yorkie who is 10. She was recently diagnosed with diabetes. She gets insulin 2x/day, special food & frequent glucose monitoring. She is now doing fine. We are on fixed income, and we feel as you do. We don't have children, and she is "our daughter". We will make do!
Please take care!! Rhonda
