Middle of March Giveaway!

How about a Middle of March giveaway? I'm thinking that some batik fabrics in spring colors would be fun. How about 1/2 a yard of each of these (for a total of 2 yards). The main batik fabric incorporates the colors of the other 3:
There's some aqua:
Some yellow:
and some orangie/pinkie:
I've used these in the Row Along quilt, in the Oklahoma Beauty quilt and in other quilts I've been making. I like mixing them with other fabrics. Just leave me a comment telling me how you would use batiks or telling me why you don't like batiks. Don't forget to leave your email address so that I can find you if you win!

I'll choose a winner on the 22nd of March which is Charlie's "birthday" or the day he came to live with me. He was about 2 at the time so he will be approximately 14 because I got him in 2001. I took this pic so you can see how great he still looks. I didn't realize how ready for the groomer he is... He's still a dapper guy, alert and ready to chase Squirrely Joe, his backyard nemesis.

Have a great Thursday! Cheery wave from Bev

Happy Birthday Charlie -- looking good at 14. I love using batik fabric and never exclude it regardless of what it's going with. My favorite thing I am using batik with right now is a block of the month I am doing at my LQS where the blocks are all different flowers and when we finish there will be 18 beautiful flowers.

I love Charlie's look, how sweet he must be does he give good doggie kisses? I've never used batik fabrics that I know of. They sure do bring the spring feeling out.

I really like batiks. I specially like them if the colors are warm and earthy, like the orange one. They'll be good for some patchwork pouches.

Bev - The Batiks are so pretty. I think they are as easy to use as a solid color since they don't have a distinct pattern.

Happy Birthday to Charlie!! He looks great for his age. It must be the excellent care he receives.

Happy Birthday to CHarlie, he looks like he is ready to chase that squirrel in his cool coat. My dog had a plaid coat and when she wore it, she felt fierce, she would bark at everything! It was very funny.

I love batiks and use them a lot. I first used them when I made an overnight bag with a thousand pieces. Since you can't tell front from back on the fabric it made it a lot easier to assemble with one less thing to think about. Since then I have made several quilts, a jacket and a few table runners.

I've made several quilts using just batiks in the top. I prefer not to use a batik in the backing if the top is all batiks. My first one came out a little stiff from the dryer, so I washed it again with a bit of fabric softener, and it came out perfectly. Thanks for the great giveaway.

I love to use batiks as the *solids* against busy prints. especially if I can't get the exact match on a color? a batik is very forgiving while still being somewhat *solid*... and used in bigger pieces like raggedy quilts, the movement in the coloring is gorgeous.

I love batiks...the subtle color variations and such interest to a quilt. They are so much prettier than solids and yet you can still show off your hand-quilting which tends to get lost in a pattern.

Diann said...

I like to use batiks in any sort of quilted project but I generally don't like to mix them with other fabrics unless the other fabrics are solids.

I didn't like batiks at all, nor the mix of colors in 1 fabric, nor the feeling.

Untill I was at a quiltshow with lots of shops and for the first time I saw (and felt)batiks so beautiful, it almost made me drool LOL.
Now I've already collected several batiks for a bed quilt.

The colors shown here are gorgious. Thank you for a chance to win.
