I need HELP from my expert blog friends! Also, Lola's emergency trip to the vet!

Monday and the start of a new week. Did you watch Downton Abbey last night? I watched while I continued prepping the second block of the Civil War Bride quilt. That made me think about applique quilts and that brings me to the subject of the blog today. I'm thinking of ordering some expensive (to me) patterns for the shop and would appreciate your opinion. These patterns are so beautiful. Any of these quilts would be a masterpiece. So here they are:

I know, I know...tons of applique but amazing, right? Then there is this one:
Not so many pieces but gorgeous. Take a look at this pattern:
Wow, huh! Amazing! But that's not all...there's one more:
This one is probably my favorite. I do love them all though. Here's my question of you, my expert friends. These patterns range in price from $30 to $40. They are full size patterns and don't have to be enlarged or anything. What do you think? Do you have a favorite? Would you buy any of these expensive patterns? If enough people like them, I could go ahead and order without worrying. The shop is so tiny that this would be a lot of money for me and I don't know if anyone would want to order them. So, what's your verdict? I really trust your feedback and would so appreciate it!

Lola gave me a fright yesterday! Take a look at this face:
Have you ever seen a more miserable looking dog? One of her eyes was shut. I washed her face and her eye looked clear. No goop or red around the eye. She kept sticking out her tongue and didn't want to stand up. She's 13 years old so I take everything seriously. I just knew she was having a stroke and that made me practically have a stroke. My vet is open 24/7 - thank goodness! I rushed her up there and by the time we got there, she was frisking around...both her eyes were wide open and she was doing play bows to strange dogs in the waiting room. The vet did a blood test and said that Lola did not have a stroke. She said to just keep an eye on her and bring her back if anything strange happened. So I watched her....watched her play like crazy all day. I'm so relieved that I forgive her entirely for the $80. vet bill. Scared me to death!

Well, enjoy your Monday! Thanks to everyone who can take a moment and let me know what they think about the patterns. I hope you find some time to sew! Cheery wave from Bev

Hi Bev!
I LOVE these quilts but they are just too difficult/labour intensive for me! I would love to SEE them done in real life at a quilt show.. to admire and appreciate but I would never make one! But that's just me...:o)
Have a great week!!

Thanks Paulette. That's what I need to know!

The patterns you show are lovely, but would be outside my budget. (I also like the last one the best.)

I'm so glad your dog is OK.

Thanks Diann! I really appreciate your feedback!

I'm not an expert by any definition of the word but I know what I like and I do like the patterns. I really like the second one and would do it but sadly they are out of my price range.

Thanks for your comment Cricket! If you are a quilter, you are an expert in what you like and can afford to buy. That's exactly the feedback I need. Thank you SO much for taking the time to comment!

Thanks Missy! Lola does look like Molly! Her eye is fine and she's happily snoring by my feet this morning. Fine and dandy!

If I were planning on buying a lovely pattern, the price wouldn't stop me. It's much cheaper than getting them by the BOM with fabric. I'm not in the market right now.

I'm so, so glad your pup was okay!!

Thanks Billie! That's good to know! I really appreciate your taking the time to help me out with a comment! Lola says thanks!

I do love these patterns and I would dearly love to make a complex applique quilt one day. It probably won't be for a couple of years though - once I retire.

Wow, they really are fabulous (especially the first one). I don't think the prices are out of line given the complexity of the patterns. However, I don't enjoy applique enough to make one of those quilts. But I have been known to buy really complicated applique patterns just to look at. Bizarre, huh?

Hi Bev, I'm from England and the patterns are a bit expensive plus postage. I love the second and third patterns and I would love to have them but perhaps a BOM would suit me better than a full payment. That I would really appreciate. If I was in a States and working instead of disabled these patterns are so beautiful, I wouldn't even give it a second thought. By the way, I love your blog and am an avid follower. Kind Regards Mandy Currie (mandycurrie@googlemail.com)

Thanks Janet for the feedback! I appreciate it!

Karen! Thank you for leaving a comment. I understand about buying a pattern to look at...it's called "collecting"! That is why I'm always looking for unusual patterns. I'll never live long enough to make them all!

Thanks for your comment, Mandy! It's very helpful! So glad you visit the blog!

Cheery wave! Bev

It's so scary when a beloved pet looks ill!
As far as the quilt patterns, I have to say the only one I would consider would be the 2nd, less busy, pattern. I like appliqué quilts but the other options seem to overwhelming to me. And boy, at that price, I'd really have to fall in love with the pattern &be able to commit to the project. I couldn't justify that much money on a project for 'someday' project!

Thanks so much Karen! I really appreciate your comments!

The patterns are all wonderful, but far beyond my skill set. Also, I'm just too frugal to spend so much on a pattern. I'm sure they are worth it to some, just not to me. I like the second one best.

What amazing quilts and patterns Bev,
I struggle to sew a button on so maybe I'm not qualified to give feedback? ;D
What a fright you must have had with Lola...I'd have been in shock too. My Mufftypup is like my shadow and I'd be lost without her cute face watching my every move. She's a mini shuh tzu ^..^

I'm visiting from Vickie over at 2 Bags Full blog party.
Have a great week whatever you have planned. Enjoy!

Hi Bev,
First, I'm so glad it wasn't a stroke, was she sneezing? I had that same look on one of my dogs and he had something stuck in his sinus.
The patterns are all beautiful and I don't think the prices are bad for full size patterns, but it's all about the market and fast you could sell them. It took me forever to get past the $50 price for a pattern that I really wanted. I finally bought it when the shop had a sale.

Thanks jmniffer! I appreciate your comment. Great to have your feedback and wonderful that you took the time to comment!

Thanks Neesie! Lola's doing just fine now. I suspect an allergy to something she stuck her face in outside.

Thanks so much for your comment Dana! I appreciate your taking the time to let me know!

All the patterns are beautiful Bev, but I have more on my plate than I can get done in years, so no ordering those patterns for me.

How scary! Poor little Lola! I am so glad she is ok and hopefully doesn't give you another scare like that. I love the last quilt the best. But I wanted to let you know that I received my snowman pattern today and it is SO cute! I can't wait to pick up some felted wool - I was going to try and do it with some cotton that I have, but I want to try the wool. Just love it - thank you very, very much!! Beth

I would definitely buy the 2nd one :)
Maybe the last one...
