I Was So Surprised!

First, happy Wednesday! Before I share what made me surprised, here are my next quilts I'm going to finish for my UFO Project #2! These are some of the unfinished hand-appliqued blocks that I dug out of the hall closet. I'm almost as excited about ironing them with my new iron as I am finishing the quilt!

Next is a Christmas wallhanging that just needs a border (and I still have the fabric..whew) and quilting!
Next is the Sugar Dish quilt from a pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew that we sell in the shop. I love these colors and have used this as my avatar. I should get it quilted! I think I'm going to make one from the gray, yellow and pink fabrics from the Daisy Cottage line. It's so much prettier in person!
And my 4th project will be the quilt for Peri's room that I blogged about yesterday. Here's why I was so surprised! I could not believe how many people commented on my post "The Power of Words" from a few days ago who said that they too have had experiences with unthinking quilt judges or other quilters. I just want to show you a Dresden Plate block by Robin of As Sweet As Peaches blog. She was actually going to throw this block away because of things other people said to her about it! I think it is a gorgeous block and have told her that if she's going to throw quilt blocks away, to send them my way! Can you imagine saying something bad about this beautiful block?

Lots of people have written me and asked to see the other seasons of my Spring Ring design that I showed you in the same blog post. I don't have them any more because I did throw them away. I wish I could go back in time with the stronger sense of self that I have now!  Many of the comments on that blog post stated that people didn't want to enter quilt shows because of the fear of being criticized by hateful people. Isn't that sad? I love quilting and am so excited to see all the beautiful work that other quilters do! Why aren't people careful with others feelings?

Well everyone who commented was great to me! Thank you all for being so sweet!  The AUGUST GIVEAWAY is almost over! Be sure to enter! Have a happy Wednesday! Cheery wave from Bev

Wow - there's some seriously cool stuff lurking in your hall closet! As for Robin's block I can't imagine why anyone would want to say anything negative about it . . . It's gorgeous!

I'm really interested to see how your Rowenta does over time. The problem I've had with the three Rowentas I've had is that they didn't last but a year or so. The price didn't justify that for me so I went back to inexpensive irons that last about the same length of time. I'm tempted to try a good one again but I don't want to waste my money. Keep us posted! blessings, marlene
