It's here!! Cozy Afternoon, the new Block of the Month from fabric and quilt designer Jacquelynne Steves! It's a versatile, easy and fun quilt that includes 3 ways to finish your blocks. You can piece them, applique them or embroider them. Jacquelynne provides a video tutorial for the two stitches that are used for this easy embroidery so it's a great chance to learn! This BOM goes for 5 months and includes the pattern for each block, plus border and finishing instructions. Imagine curling up in front of the fire with this quilt, a good book and a cup of tea. I put my block one on the floral fabric that I chose to use for the border and the large setting squares just so you could see where I got my color inspiration. I decided to use raw edge applique for my blocks.

I haven't settled on my fabrics yet but I think I will be doing the applique version. I do love to do embroidery so maybe I should make two. I love the cheerful fabrics you used in your blocks.

I have signed up for this BOM but not sure what to do in the centre applique is a technique yet to be tried. Love the background fabric you have used on your first block, bit of envy going on here

I love your blocks. I'm still trying to decide on colors. There are so many choices...
I haven't made up my mind on whether to do a pieced block or the applique. I also had an idea to combine this with my other hobby, cross stitching, and design and stitch a cross stitch block. So many choices.

I'm going to use a large floral print in the center of each block, so I won't be doing the embroidery nor the applique block center.

I'll try to enhance my abilities in machine applique with this BOM. I like embroidery too, but in this project the applique looks best to me.
I love your boarder fabric. I plan on doing needle turn applique.
I'm likely going to fussy cute some Laurel Burch Hummingbirds for the centers, and may extend that to the plain blocks. I might try my hand at a piano key border since I have yet to make one. I love your bright cheery colors!

You've got me thinking! I'd raw edge the flowers, but I'm thinking the teapot needs polish and maybe trupunto(spelling ?) I think these blocks deserve a 3d treatment.
I really like both the contest quilts, but I can see that sea star and sand dollar coverlet on my patio chair for the long sunset evenings....
