So I'm finishing quilt tops to try to sell them on eBay so I can keep Lola in expensive dog food (ironically so she will lose weight-go figure) and I found my green and yellow Great Granny blocks.
So springy, right? I love the bright colors. Well, I have lots of fabric in the shop by Lori Holt that has these greens and yellows but she has added gray. When I added gray, it blahed them out I think.
I'll probably still use the gray because I have this Lori Holt fabric that's in the shop to use for the border and it has the gray:
What's up with you all? Yesterday I had the most bizarre experience I've ever had! I was feeling fine and sitting at the table eating lunch and suddenly the room started spinning. Literally spinning. It was spinning about 3 times faster than a merry-go-round. I couldn't do anything to make it stop. I'm not sure how long it lasted (it was relentless) but I had time to think "should I call an ambulance", "I can't get to the phone to call an ambulance", "am I having a stroke", "great, the kitchen isn't clean if they have to take me to the hospital", "I can't afford to board Lola if I have to be in the hospital" and many more thoughts. So it had to be at least 2 minutes of violent spinning. Thank God (seriously--not taking His name in vain--I am really grateful), it stopped. I felt fine before it started and fine after it stopped. I immediately called my son, Eric, and he said it was "benign paroxysmal positional vertigo". He said it happens when one "has a few years under their belt". Something to do with your inner ear. Well, I'm grateful that I wasn't driving down the interstate when it happened! I can't imagine what would have happened. And now I can understand why the elderly fall and I was reminded how much I hate things I can't control. That's my weird health scare story. Now, getting back to something interesting...
Here is a link to a recipe for Ranch Dressing that I used to have in the 80's and lost. You make up a bunch of dry dressing and keep it in a jar and when you need a batch of Ranch, you just add the wet ingredients. This is how Ranch is supposed to taste! The link is HERE. There's a downloadable, printable recipe.
That's all my news this morning. Have you ever had vertigo? It is NO fun! Hope you have a great Tuesday! XO from Bev

Oh my I've lived my life in a state of dizziness. Now be nice! Yes I'm dingy but that's not the reason. My "levels" are always low...BP, sugar, iron. But due to the massive amounts of caffeine and sugar I eat to keep them at normal levels my heart rate runs a tad higher than normal. Anyway enough about my weird body. You might look into a simple exercise that resets these rock thingy's in your ear. My Aunt Lou had dizzy spells and this fixed it. I told her about it and she didn't believe me, so 2 yrs later and a huge doctor bill they doctors sent her to therapy and they did exactly what I had told her! It may not be your problem but you never know, its worth a shot. It's called Vertigo treatment Epley Maneuver you can find it on Youtube. Now I'm off to find that Lori Holt fabric I purchased from you!
Oh I see Lee Anne already suggested looking up the Epley Manuever. I have had episodes of vertigo in the past and this helps. Hope the dizziness has subsided and I loved your train of thought as it was happening. I had the same crazy thoughts when I fell and broke my wrist. I was getting out of the shower and didn't want to be found naked so I used that adrenaline rush you get in a crisis and got some clothes on first. Then I called for help. Take care!
My girlfriend had it so bad she had to have the crystals blasted.
Thanx for the recipe! D.G. L
I had a two day experience with vertigo - actually threw up a couple times and spent all my time on the couch with my eyes closed - that was the only way to get through it.
That's scary! I'm so glad you're feeling better. A PA I used to work with had vestibular issues after a collision with a cow! It got to the point that we could tell when he was getting dizzy and would stroll down the hall and take his arm to give him some stability til it passed.
As for our diets...including the beautiful Miss Lola's...it always costs more to eat healthy.
I swear ( no disrespect) by the Epley Maneuver. For those of us who have " rocks " in our heads! Thanks for the recipe. Hope you are feeling better. Linda@Wetcreek Blog
So sorry this happened to you! I had that once and literally crawled down the hall on my hands and knees to get to the LR to call John at work. It was awful. Take care.

I have had several bouts of vertigo. The first time I walked like I was drunk trying to get to the bathroom. My husband had to help me off the toilet and helped me get dressed so he could take me to the doctor. I can't explain it but now I can tell when one is going to com eon. I too have to lay in a quiet dark room very still until it passes. Hopefully the excercise helps you!
That would be scary! I'll get dizzy sometimes if I stand too fast I think great granny squares is one of my favorite blocks.
I love your Granny Squares! Another thing that can have those symptoms is if you blood pressure is low! Also, low sugar big D) please go to the dr. Take care of youself!
Bev: I have been so out of it lately and have missed several of your wonderful posts. Today I caught up and I must say I am crazy about your Swoon Houses and pretty much all your other posts! I am SO sorry about the loss of your dog, and your wierd vertigo episode. I agree that this aging stuff that we can't control is no fun!
Bev - that was exactly how my vertigo started about 10 years ago. I was actually awoken from sleep, by something that sounded like a snap in my head. When I opened my eyes, the room was spinning violently, like looking into a ceiling fan. Went on for days before I drug myself in...my dad has it, and I was told my children would probably end up with it as well, as it's a hereditary thing, also. Anxious to hear what you find out - someone else told me recently of another manuever besides the one listed here. See what they tell you at the doctor, and then we can talk! Happy weekend, my friend - XOXO
