So many people have been making the Nested Churn Dash blocks from Want it, Need it, Quilt it by Quilt Jane. The block is easy to do and you can make a really big one in a very short time. So I made one and decided to use some of my black and white fabrics. Well, I hate, hate, hate how it turned out.
It's basically 4 Churn Dash blocks nested together to make one big block. Here's the inside:
I think I would have liked it much better if I had just used red, black and white. Using the green in this block just blaahed it out. Anyway, don't judge this block by mine. You can go see cuter blocks and find out how to get the pattern HERE.
Now for the giveaway! It's a big one!
Have you ever wanted to make a beautiful Farmer's Wife quilt of your own but were intimidated by all of the teeny tiny pattern pieces? After, these blocks are just 6" finished! Well, as many of you know, I finished 2 of these quilts...that's right. The UFO queen finished TWO of these! How'd I do it? Well, I used the rotary cut, quick pieced methods developed by Karen Walker! She got the blessing of the woman who actually wrote the Farmers Wife Quilt Book and she developed classes that she sells on Craftsy. So far, she's put 6 classes up on Craftsy and tons of people are successfully making these blocks now and finishing their quilts!
Karen is giving away her first six classes for FREE to one lucky blog giveaway winner! These classes include her printable booklets with the Magic 8 Tutorial for making half square triangles and much more! You will also get project patterns along the way that include a pattern for my baby FW:
and a pattern for setting my big Farmer's Wife quilt:
You'll love these classes whether you are a beginning quilter or an advanced quilter who just wants to get this beautiful quilt done quickly. You can enter the giveaway and see some reviews written by people who bought these classes from Karen's Craftsy store HERE. The winner of this giveaway will be announced ON MY BLOG by me on JULY 7th so hurry over and enter! XO and cheery wave from Bev

I love, love, love it! Maybe you'll like it better when you make more!
I soooo disagree about your block. The black and white make the colors just pop. I really like it. But , yes, you are the one who has to like the block not us. BUT, I really like it!!!
I have this wonderful book but have always felt too overwhelmed to try and make the quilt it myself - a class would be totally awesome!
I really like your block! I love the color combinations. If you don't like it, finish it up as a pillow or wall hanging and give it away for Christmas. One present down, and how many to go?
I have the book. Have taken it out and looked at it. I've seen your blocks and quilts and am still drawn to it. What a wonderful giveaway that I would love to win.
I like your nested churndash especially the green.
I have collected all the fabrics for this quilt but have been too
fearful to start. The classes would be perfect to help me out. It would be the perfect project for the cold winter in the north.
I will pass on this quilt as I don`t know whether I am coming or going with all that I am trying to do! The churn dash seems very popular but to be honest I am not keen on it, I like the individual churn dash block but not sure about the big one with lots and lots getting bigger and bigger
I have been wanting to make this quilt for a long time. Thanks for sharing this great gift It is just what I need
I love your nested churn dash block. Don't give up on it. Make a few more, put them together and then see how you feel. I can see that the challenge with this block is getting just the right fabrics together. I have a copy of the Farmer's Wife book but doubt I'll ever get to it as it seems rather daunting. I like to look at the pictures though. Haven't had much luck with the diet, hope you're doing better than me.
Wow! What a wonderful giveaway!! The book drove me crazy so I gave up but I've always admired the folks that persisted! I had no idea that there was another way to do these blocks!! I will keep my fingers crossed (toes too! ;o)
Hi - well add me also to the group who likes your block! :) love the green!
