Oklahoma Orange Peel WIP
I came to a realization yesterday! I have tons of UFO's and have felt so guilty about not finishing them all up that it has affected my enjoyment of them. Well, I love working on one for a while and then switching to another! So who cares? Is anyone standing over me saying, "Bev! You get that UFO finished before you work on anything else!" Nope, I'm looking around the sewing room...just Charlie and Lola...no quilt police here!
So yesterday I cut and sewed 25 4 patches that are the center of the Orange Peel block. I already had some of the spiky edge pieces cut out. I have 5 big stacks of batik fabrics and can't think of a prettier way to use some of them up. I had fun. So NUTS to you internal critical parent in my head! You can stop wagging your finger at me and trying to make me feel guilty. I WILL HAVE FUN! Hope you guys have a great weekend! XO and cheery wave from Bev

I agree! So many times we beat ourselves up for what we perceived others think. If we want three or four or ten works in progress, who cares! I bought some fat quarter bundles and immediately cut into them - felt guilty for several reasons (the main ones being - I didn't need any more fabric or projects and I have 2 projects on my design wall that need finishing). I'm not going to let it ruin my fun in making 3 quilts I will love and I enjoy working on many things at once. I've been known to read several books at once, why not make several projects at once!

Very pretty! And what's the point of quilting if not to have fun? No quilt guilt allowed!
Some times the entire purpose of the "project" is to try something different in pattern or color. Once you figure that part out the purpose of the project is fulfilled and just because it dose not turn into a quilt dose not mean it is a UFO or WIP or a PIG.
I am sure we all have UFO`s hiding in cupboards etc. I love the batiks, they are on my want list!
Good for you! I tell people that I do needlework for the journey, not the destination. Once I've finished something, it is usually up for grabs. Not that I don't enjoy using my quilts and afghans and seeing my needlepoint on display, but I love making them more.
I agree!!! Ever since I posted my UFO list (first time for me) I have been plagued with guilt!!! Good for you! We have to remind ourselves that quilting is our enjoyment, our hobby, our passion. Who cares if we don't finish something as long as we are loving the process. I say - Quilt On - wherever that creative force takes us. (repeat, repeat, repeat!) LOL

I work on my different projects as the spirit moves, or as the muse visits. Forcing my way through a project just to be finished makes it a drudge and an energy drain!
