2014 - A Year Dedicated to Finishing UFO's (I promise..really...this year will be different)

Okay, I was reading blogs this morning (instead of working feverishly at my "real job" which I should be doing) and it seems like the blogging quilters I follow are showing the projects they finished in 2013. Inspiring! Let's see. What did I finish, I asked myself...uh...let's see....uh.... Well, I did do stuff...lots and lots of piecing that created tons of UFO's. So this year I WILL work on finishing. I promise myself that I will NOT start another new project until I've finished at least the UFO's that are in the stacked up red canvas baskets by the sewing machine! So, in addition to the Oklahoma Beauty quilt you are all sick of seeing, I will work on some of these:
This Great Granny just needs a border! This is just a collage I did of some of the blocks.

This Dresden Plate only needs a little more quilting around the flowers in the corners. Here's how I've been quilting it (and why do I stop just short of finishing? Some weird character defect or something):
This star needs a border or something but I'd like to finish it:
And this twin size top is so much prettier in person that it looks like it is in photos. I think the rose fabric in the border is just beautiful. It was part of what I sold out at half price in the shop and I wish I had kept it. Oh well, Charlie's medicine is more important! I can't get a full size photo of it because it's too big.

I made it because it's fast...an Eleanor Burns pattern.
If you know me, you know that I have a ton more UFO's to finish. We'll see how I do. I'm still looking for suggestions about how to set the Oklahoma Beauty. I only have 2 more blocks to finish then border and maybe sashing decisions.

So hope you have a Happy New Year! I'm glad I have a plan for my quilting. Wish I had a long-arm (and knew how to use it....and had room for it....and could afford it....). XO and cheery wave from Bev

  2. Wow, when I get that close to a finish I drive my husband crazy because everything gets neglected until I finish it! LOL It's funny how God made everybody different in that way.
You have some beautiful quilts to finish!
I have like three tops I need to quilt also, not to mention the piecing projects. And there are so many new projects I also want to start!

  3. I was hoping you could shed some light on why we get so close to a finish and then put it in a bag and move on to something else. I'm really guilty of that and have no idea why. Your 2014 projects are beautiful. Happy New Year.

  5. I really enjoy watching you work on your projects via your blog. I too have a bit of a UFO problem. Are you familiar with the Finish A Long? It is great motivation and fun camaraderie as well. It motivated me to finish 15 projects last year of course I started 1/2 as many but hey that is progress.
