THANKS to the QUILTER RESCUE SQUAD! And another Oklahoma Beauty block....

Can you believe it? The Quilter Rescue Squad a/k/a my blogger buddies who are generous and kind-hearted left me some of the absolute BEST comments on my last blog entry. Apparently I'm not the only recipient of snarky, unsolicited comments about color choices! Well, here's another one:
I don't know what I did before I had my blogger friends! You guys are so supportive and sweet! And, sadly, I'm apparently not the only one who has let the opinions of others keep me from doing what I like and experimenting with color and different patterns. I'm glad I'm getting to the end of these blocks because I'm running out of fabrics that are right for the focal fabric in these blocks. I have some New York Beauty blocks that are finished so will be jumping to that quilt next. I originally started on these blocks as part of the "UFO" finishing project so I would like to actually finish this quilt. I just have to make setting and border decisions.

I dread taking the paper out of these blocks! With paper piecing, you don't take out the paper until all the blocks are sewn together but it is a pain! And, wouldn't you know it, I just saw a tutorial (I'll have to find the link for you) on how to do paper piecing without sewing into the paper. Great, now that I'm almost finished...sigh... Oh well, I'll try that method on my next quilt.

And for those of you who don't want to enter quilt shows because the judges can be mean (like the one who won't be mentioned by name who I let cost me 10 years of quilting) or not trying something you want to try because of snotty comments or judgmental people, just let me know! I'll report them to the Quilter Rescue Squad who left me the great comments! I'm so glad I'm passed the point of letting snarkiness stop me...I just wish it didn't still sort of bother me.

Well, guess I'll go work on my "real job". Today, one of the things I have to do is write about men's Dopp kits. That wouldn't be so bad except that I have to write 750 words with 300 of them being "style tips" for that product. I'm still trying to figure that one out. I hope you are all having a great end of year for 2013! And thanks again for the encouragement! It means the world to me! XO and Cheery wave from Bev

I like your color choices too. I feel that everyone has their own color choices with no one being right and no one being wrong. I enjoy seeing different color choices together than I'd use. It makes me step out of my little box.
I don't know how you can come up with words to describe things for your "real" job. I'd have to quit that job - I tend to be blunt and unwordy when describing things.

When I post a quilt on the Dutch quilter's board the usual comments are : "uhh, it's a bit "busy"... I don't bother to post them there anymore. They all make toned done stuff. The newest craze here are "low volume" quilts, with beige/whites..I like "pump up the volume"lol
I love bright, busy, colourfull quilts and that's what makes me happy, just as your blocks do!
I read an interview with Freddy Moran in which she stated that she was afraid to show her multi coloured schoolhouse blocks to her group. Thank god it didn't hold her back; she has made amazing quilts, following her own rules.
Sorry for the long comment, but I had to let you know how much I LOVE your blocks and blog and to hell with the quiltpolice (pardon the expresion!)
