Intermittent Electricity Doesn't Stop Me from Sewing!

Our electricity has been going off and on but the roads are clear of ice! Woot! Ironically, the tree limbs are breaking off because the ice is so thick. They say the unseasonable warm weather of the last few weeks is the reason the ice isn't on the grass or pavement. Yipee! Jason and Dylan will make it from Dallas and everyone else lives here in OKC. Looks like the family will be together tomorrow. I'll take pics this time with my real camera...no camera phone. I did get an Oklahoma Beauty block stitched up:
My stash of large florals is about exhausted. I'm going to have to get creative. I'm close to being finished and still haven't decided on setting the blocks. You know, this electricity situation has made me want a treadle machine more than ever. I know some people have them and I'd like a new one. They make them for remote locations in South America where villages don't have electricity. They are about the quality you can buy as a regular machine at Walmart. Oh well, adding that to my "when I win the lottery" list. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! Cheery wave from Bev

  1. I use my treadle for all of my quilting! I paid $50 for one and $25 for the other. The $25 one is on sick leave until I take the time to find a part I lost in the move though. Keep your eye on Craigslist, thy are usually easy to clean up, and Singers are very easy to find parts for. Check out treadleon.net for more info.

  2. have a lovely time with the family. I used to love the old treadle Dad had, when I think back do not know what he did with it as I was already stitching when it disappeared, if he was still here I would be ticking him of about not giving it to me! Helen my daughter had just inherited a singer hand machine, she does not sew so hoping to be allowed to have a play with it but not so sure about having only one hand free to feed my fabric through.

  3. Hi Bev! Lovely block! I have my Grandmother's old Singer sewing machine (treadle) in the cabinet.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Hope you have a delightful time with your family!
