We've had two new books in the shop that I want to do quilts out of so much! In fact, we sell out as soon as they come in and I'm waiting on the 3rd shipment right now. The first one is Lori Holt's new book:
If you have followed me you know that I made Lori's Row Along quilt (I don't have the borders on yet though) from her blog. It is an adorable quilt and was fun to make. You probably know that all those stacked quilts are projects from the book using the same blocks and some new ones. This is a really cool book with spiral binding - I love spiral binding! The first order of books was pre-sold before they even came into the shop. The second order was sold to a bunch of my Australian blog buddies who ordered them together and split the postage. The third order is on its way. Here's my quilt:
I used polka dot fabric for the background. I still haven't decided what to use for the border. I'm leaning toward red because I love it so much! The second book that I've had to re-order is Quilts from El's Kitchen:
It's a sampler with a large center block. There is applique but Eleanor Burns gives great instructions and makes everything easy and fun. She actually taught me to quilt many years ago. This book also has some great recipes in it. Here's the back of the book so you can see the borders.
I've been wanting to make a scalloped border. She uses Riley Blake's Apple of My Eye fabrics in her quilt and we still have some of that fabric in the shop. So you see why I'm having trouble finishing the UFO's and not starting something new. It's fun to have something to look forward to though. And for those who asked, yes we still have some of the Hello Sunshine fabrics. I'll try to get them in the Etsy shop this week.
So hope you are having a good Thursday! Have you seen these two books? Aren't they fun?! Well, its off to work! XO and cheery wave from Bev

I love your quilt, if it was me I would use the aqua as the border. I really like the way aqua looks in a border...my fav!
I completely understand your dilemma!
(and I haven't put the borders on my Row Along quilt yet either... it's still waiting patiently in my WIP pile!)
Definitely have to get Lori's book, it looks just lovely.
Have a good day at work,
xx
I followed along as you and Lori made your Row-Alongs. I have both books but have to save starting a new quilt until after the new year. Will WE be able to resist? only tie will tell...
Do finish your Row-along quilt- it is gorgeous. The border is very quick and easy to do. As to colour- you could use any one of several colours- aqua, lime green, yellow or your red, and it would look great. If you love red though- choose that.
As to WIPs - I usually complete a top when working on one, but was getting a huge stack of flimsies. I made a decision- I would piece one top then FMQ one from my pile and complete it. Works great for me.
Both quilts look great, but mantra is no new quilts, no new quilts.
I sent this link to my husband telling him I want it for Christmas! LOL
quilty fun looks like it might find its way into my houses! your quilt is wonderful
I bought the Lori Holt book and I do not even quilt! But my family made me a version of her "I Remember Grandma's Aprons" that I just adore....I can look at her book for an hour at a time, it is so colorful and fun! My favorite SB store here in Mesa is also an incredible quilt store now also....talk about temptation! I also like the aqua border...:)
Whoa, Bev! That's one amazing link up! LOVE It and now I know where you live and I came over for a visit..and you didn't even have to dress up or clean. Thanks for the link up on my blog. LOVED IT!
I'm now a "real" follower of 44th Street Fabric :) When I happened upon your blog, and I saw your row along-in-progress I was mesmerized! I'd never seen anything quite like it. The colors, the precision, & the utter cuteness of it all made me want to dive into the quilter's blog world! I could not believe how much modern, delicious quilty goodness was out there! Lots of exclamation points, I know!!
