Machine Quilting Tutorial

Wednesday already! I can't believe it! I've done nothing in the sewing room because I've been working at the computer on my "real job" trying to get caught up. It's so hard to concentrate when there is sewing and quilting I'd rather be doing. Today, for example, I'm writing 50 categories about collegiate products for home decor. The challenge is to find 250 words for each school and make the paragraphs different and interesting. The products are the same for each school. So enough complaining. I thought I would share one of my favorite tutorials for quilting on your machine. Here's a quilt I did:
The tutorial I like is at Sew Inspired Blog and you can find it HERE. I don't use the quilting gloves that she does all the time but when I do, I use garden gloves that I got at the Dollar Store for $1.00 a pair. I think those quilting gloves sell for about $12. a pair. I also mark my quilts using purchased templates with Frixon pens that disappear when you throw the finished quilt in the dryer for a few minutes. I love them! They are gel pens that are easy to mark with, easy to see and stay on the fabric until you finish quilting. On the quilt pictured here, I outlined the Dresden blocks. I won't do that again because it just looks awful. Once I did enough to decide I didn't like it, it was too late. Also, I had not quilted around the flower applique in the corner in this photo. I wouldn't leave it like that. See why I could never do a successful tutorial...I spend the whole time talking about what I don't like about my work...lol. But if you are like me and can't afford to have your tops quilted by a pro, this tutorial will be a lot of help for you.

Hope you have a great hump day and that you get to sew! XO and cheery wave from Bev

  3. I wonder why 100 people didn't respond to this blog post. I really think your quilting around the dresdens is lovely. Looks great and you must have the patience of a saint. I keep telling myself if I would quilt my own quilts I would be wa-a-ay better after the 1st one, the 10th, and so on. Good for you to be corageous! Stephani in N. TX (Tomazec@aol.com)
