BAR HARBOR QUILT-ONE MORE BORDER?

Here's the first little quilt I'm making with Bar Harbor fabric which is now in the shop. As you can see I've put one small navy border on to contain all the crazy action from the triangle blocks. The question is: should I put on another border? Maybe a big red one? What do you think? I'm open to suggestion! Thanks!

POOCH PATIO FEATURED!

Fido magazine has named Pooch Patio (owned by April, mother of my youngest grandbaby, Dylan) in an article about Dallas dogs! Woot!

Pooch Patio is an upscale, fun place where Dallas urbanites can take their dogs to have a cocktail in the lounge or on the two outdoor patios. It's always fun to be able to take your dog with you to dinner!

Pooch Patio has everything your best friend could want!

Pooches and their owners enjoy the doggie day care, groomers, boarding and, if you want to do it yourself, the dog wash! We just had to say CONGRATULATIONS to April and everyone at Pooch Patio! Kisses and hugs from Grammy!

BOLT END WEEKEND

I was cleaning up the cutting area this weekend and putting together bolt end bundles to sell in the shop and I happened to see my pattern for the "applique a circle onto a square and cut it into 4 pieces" quilt. It's so quick and easy to do, especially if you have a circle ruler. Almost all of this fabric is in the shop at the moment. I haven't sewn any blocks together but laid out 4 blocks for you to see. Just cut a square 8" and 2 circles 6". Sew the circles together right sides facing then make a cut in one and turn them. Applique onto the square (I use invisible thread) and then cut the block into 4 pieces. Trim the excess and there you go. Easy-peasy. This makes a really cute baby quilt, lap quilt or if you have a big enough stash (which I do) and time (which I do not), bed quilt. It was a nice little diversion. Still haven't done the bolt end bundles but they are coming! Cheery wave!

SHAMS WITH STYLE - NEW BOOK!

Shams with Style is one of the newest books we offer at 44th Street Fabric! Heather Mulder Peterson and Deb Mulder, the Mom-Daughter team at Anka's Treasures, realized that although many of us make beautiful quilts, we go out and look for pillows to coordinate with them or make "plain" ones (that's me--the "plain" pillow maker). They got together and wrote this beautiful book with tons patterns for decorative pillow shams and pillows. I love it because I can just pick it up and get the measurements I need. I also enjoy all the beautiful photos, tips and inspiration. Get your copy from our shop today!

STARTING A QUILT WITH BLUSH

I couldn't stand it any longer! I decided to make a quilt with Blush fabric from our shop. The colors are perfect for an applique quilt. I use this drafting ruler to make circles for berries, centers of blocks, etc. It's awesome! I'll be using the white dot fabric for the background of my floral blocks. I'll keep you updated and I hope you'll tell me what you think. Happiness is starting a new project!

THE BELLA BAG - COMING SOON!

The Bella Bag by Heather Mulder Peterson for Anka's Treasures is coming to the shop in the next week or so! We love the big grommets and the shape of this versatile bag! Bev found a source for the grommets and they don't require any special equipment to install so this should be a really fun project. We will offer the grommets for sale also. How fun!
