and here's Block Six fixed:
Much better. I have a bunch of unfinished blocks for quilts in canvas tubs and I'm thinking about just going through and finishing one at a time. For some reason, I never seem to get anything finished. Just lots of stacks of blocks. How do you do your quilt making? Do you do one quilt, finish it and then start on another? Do you have a bunch of UFO's? How do you handle them? I'd love any tips you have for me.
Have a happy Monday! I have to go get dog treats...I'm being coerced by big brown sad eyes...
XO and cheery wave from Bev
I have quilts in stages. Some are totally pieced waiting to be pinned and quilted, others I am in the piecing stage. Once they get to the quilted stage they do not sit around waiting to be bound.. I do that right away. I would get way too bored to do a quilt start to finish without doing something else in between.
ReplyDeleteSo far, I haven't even got started on a quilt - so don't have an answer to your question! LOL

I've only been sewing for a couple of years, but I try to have one quilt that I am working on from start to finish, and I seem to have 2-4 quilt blocks that I am also working on in various stages. I just finished a quilt so I am designating another quilt that I have already started as my next project. In this case it will have to be the baby quilt that is almost done, but the baby was born in July so I really need to finish it. LOL I just try to prioritize the ones I need/want to finish first.
ReplyDeleteI'm an ADD quilter. I've got quite a few tops completed, some tops pin-basted and ready to quilt and more projects than I'll ever complete waiting. I enjoy the piecing the most and delay the quilting. I've also got clothing and bag projects in various stages of completion. I can't seem to totally finish a project before starting another. I just try to enjoy the process and when a quilt is finished, I celebrate (usually starting another project!)
ReplyDeletegood girl! if you have not fixed it it would have annoyed you every time you looked at it.
ReplyDeleteRe making the quilt, I have only done a very small cot quilt but have lots of practise blocks done and have done the Tula Pink 100 sampler blocks, have now bought fabric to put individual sashing on each block then plan to cut them crooked and join them all up, just waiting till I pluck up the courage as quite new to quilting!
I have, since elementary school, loved the idea of a new skill, have gone all out with an outrageous idea for a project until the skill is conquered and then I'm done and on to the next project. Soooo....I have a number of quilts in various stages of undone. The girls from Country Threads in Garner, IA near my home town (haven't lived there since graduation in '65)have come up with a brilliant plan. They have a UFO # drawing every month. You list your projects, they draw a number every month and that is the project you finish. It is working well for me and it is a lot more fun to finish a project when you have a good head start. I have projects enough for years.
