Strawberry Moon and a Sick Puppy....

Today is officially the last day of Spring. This weekend, the strawberry moon will be out.
The moon will look the reddest when it first comes over the horizon. I snagged these photos from Pinterest and none of them have any credits so I don't know who took them but they are beautiful.
I would love to take some photos of the Strawberry Moon and have thought about making a quilt based on it. I have actually seen two of these amazing red moons in my lifetime that looked like the photo above.

It is called a Strawberry Moon because the Algonquin Indian tribes knew it as a signal to gather ripening fruit. It is known as the Full Rose Moon in Europe (where strawberries are not native). I live in the heart of the city and see almost no night sky because of all the bright lights. I would drive to the lake and take photos but it is closed because of the recent flooding due to all the rain we have had lately.
Hope you can take a picnic out to a beautiful spot, put out your best picnic quilt (I know you all have them) and watch for the Strawberry Moon. I'll be at home taking care of this guy:
He's a sick little baby. His heart is doing crazy things and the vet can't do anything for him. He's an old guy now (16) and I am so afraid. I'm hovering around him to the point that he's reacting like a 13-year-old boy ("Geeze Mom, get BACK"). I just keep thinking that in July of 2011, they told me the same thing. Just take him home and keep him comfortable and enjoy him. Maybe he will fool them again and hang around for another couple of years. I haven't gone to the grocery store or box store (which I need to do to ship something special) or anything. And wouldn't you know it, we got yet another new client at work. When it rains, it pours as my Grandmother used to say.
Please say a prayer for my little "dog man", Charlie, and take a moment this weekend to enjoy the Strawberry Moon. Who ever knows how many of those we will each get to experience. XO Bev
