Spring is Here....Early!

God's Design for Spring

It's almost Spring. Our trees are already budding and it is still February. I was a little concerned about that until I read this. I don't know who wrote it but the facts appear to be true. When I read this and I watch this video, I wonder why I ever worry about my life and trying to make things happen my way. I wonder why I find it so hard to trust the Creator of order and beauty (I choose to call Him God). He obviously knows what He is doing. For example:

the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days,
those of the canary in 14 days,
those of the barnyard hen in 21 days,
the eggs of ducks and gees hatch in 28 days,
those of the mallard in 35 days,
the eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days,
(notice, they are all divisible by 7, the number of days in a week).

God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments,
as well as in the number of grains.
each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind,
each orange has an even number of segments,
each ear of corn has an even number of rows,
each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains,
all grains are found in even numbers on the stalks and
the Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold and a hundred fold - all even numbers.

The lives of each of us may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way for His glory,
if you will only entrust Him with your life. If you try to regulate your own life,
it will only be a mess and a failure.
Only the One who made the brain and the heart can successfully guide them to a profitable end.

I hope you find this as fascinating as I did...

What Do All These Unfinished Quilt Blocks Have in Common?

They are all going to live together (with more blocks like them) in a Lady Liberty quilt someday soon. These blocks are left over from another Lady Liberty quilt I made shown here:

Just a few more blocks to go....

Wish I Could Have Found This....

This makes me happy...and....this makes me sad. Happy for those who found this kind of relationship (I know there are a few). Sad for those of us who didn't find it.

The Elusive GreenGate...

How do I love thee, GreenGate...let me count the ways. Yes, I LOVE GreenGate. It appears that my love will go unfulfilled however because I cannot find ANYWHERE in the USA that sells these Danish dishes and linens. I have found them in several shops in the UK but the postage alone on a large pitcher is $150. US. It seems that all the things I'm attracted to lately are out of my reach in one way or another. Ah well, I will dream about GreenGate dishes and see if they come into my sphere....sigh...

The Truth About Alice...

"It would be so nice if something made sense for a change"! This is just one of the quotes I love from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Shown are some articulated paper doll art (from Cart Before the Horse) and fabulous printed ribbon from France from the shop. I used to make found art with things like this but I just don't have it in me right now. My life has turned upside down AGAIN! I wonder where my life is going now. Oh well, it should be interesting to see. Was Mr. Carroll's life like mine? "Who are you?" asked the Caterpillar. "I hardly know, Sir. I know who I was but I think I must have changed".

A Beautiful Antique Quilt for your Enjoyment

Just thought you would enjoy this beautiful antique quilt. I'm sorry to say that I don't know the name of the maker or the date of the quilt but it is a gorgeous American folk art beauty. The pattern is Princess Feathers with an original spin on the center block. The colors are amazing with very little fading. I love it!

The Cardinals are Dating! Spring is Close!

It's hard to get a picture of both a female and male cardinal together. When they nest, they take turns sitting on the eggs so you only see one of them at the feeder. Today I saw a pair of little cardinals at the bird feeder. When cardinals are courting, the male feeds the female. This modern male took advantage of the fact that I procured the food for him to give her but that's okay! Seeing the cardinals performing this mating ritual means that spring is just around the corner! Yipee!
